About Me

My blog could not run without all of its visitors – so for that, I want to sincerely thank you for your interest and support of my blog.

I’m Kristin Matthews – a mom of 2, and a former school teacher turned full time blogger and world traveller. I’ve been to over 30 countries, and have lived in 7.

While it’s exciting to visit as many places as possible – I’ve always been interested in spending as much time in one place as possible, and really soaking up the feel of what its like to live there. I’ve revisited several countries and have spent years living abroad.

After dreaming of having a travel blog for years, I finally decided to start Tiny Footsteps Travel in 2023. By then, it seemed that I was ‘late to the game’ when it came to blogging, but my blog has grown quickly in the short time since it launched.

In just over a year since launch, Tiny Footsteps Travel receives approximately 50,000 monthly visitors.

The name, ‘Tiny Footsteps Travel’ is meant to be a tribute to all of the travelling I’ve done with my children.

My Travel Backstory

I was born and grew up in Ontario, Canada with Swedish roots. I visited Sweden every few years in the summer to see family.

As a student, I did three different exchanges, to France, Germany and Mexico. I lived in Australia and South Korea for 1 year each as a young adult, and backpacked around southeast Asia.

I didn’t want to give up travel after becoming a parent, so I’ve continued to travel worldwide with, (and sometimes without) my two kids.

My kids have travelled with me to places like the famous Uffizi in Florence, Celtic ruins in Ireland, to coffee farms in Costa Rica. See all the places I’ve written about bringing them here.

Goals and values of Tiny Footsteps Travel

  • I want to show everyone, especially moms who love travelling, how they can still travel, have amazing experiences and create awesome memories.
  • I take pride in my blog and the information that I present to my readers. I like to be as honest as possible to give people a realistic idea of what to expect from a place or experience as if they’re hearing it from a good friend.
  • My blog is human-written (I don’t use AI to write) and based on personal experiences, as well as extensive research. I try to save you time by bringing everything you need to know together in one place
  • Sustainability is important to me, and I try to keep that in mind. I make sure I’m providing options to you that are eco-friendly so we can minimize our carbon footprint and keep this world beautiful for generations to come

I love to write and it’s a dream come true to be able to be supporting myself and my family with a travel blog. Thank you for reading, and for your support!
