9 Great Restaurants in Huntsville, Ontario

We visit Huntsville at least once a year, and always eat at the differnet restaurants. Huntsville is the largest town in Muskoka and brings in lots of tourists from all over Ontario, so there are a lot of great cuisine options for a town its size. Huntsville is a good home base for seeing other parts of Muskoka, and there’s tons of good restaurants to keep you fueled for exploring and outdoor adventures.

We have our favourite places which we always go back to, and more on our list that we still need to try. Here are the top restaurants in Huntsville, and what I think is helpful to know about them beforehand.
5 Great Restaurants in Huntsville, Ontario
1. Tall Trees
Tall Trees is slightly upscale restaurant, with really good food. It’s perfect for a special occasion or date night, and we usually book this place our one ‘special dinner’ when we’re in town for the weekend. We’ve celebrated many anniversaries here. It looks like an old home, and there’s something so nostalgic about the outside of the building; like a setting in a Hallmark movie. They have cozy seating in a few different dining areas which you choose when you reserve.

You’ll need a car to get here as its just outside the downtown area. When you reserve, you’ll be asked which seating area you want to be seated in as they have so many different ones. The restaurant isn’t huge, but their seating areas are each small compartmentalized part of the house. So far, we’ve eaten in the back parlour, verandah, dining room and summer gazebo. Out of all of those, we like the summer gazebos (which only run up until Thanksgiving) the best, it was just a very unique experience. Next time, I would try the scullery or the librarary.

Personally, I would probably wouldn’t choose the front parlour, that’s near the entrance where everyone is walking in. But regardless of where you sit, the service and food are both really good. I recommend making reservations in advance; they fill up fast in high season. But their website says they welcome walk-ins, I’ve never tried as we usually make our reservations a few weeks before (however, we’re always there on a peak fall weekend.) They do breakfast and brunch as well!
2. Seng’s Thai Cuisine
Seng’s Thai Cuisine is the only place we’ve eaten at every time we’re in Huntsville. It’s very hole-in-the-wallish and casual. I love their Thai food, and some of their dishes I haven’t been able to find at a Thai place anywhere else. They’re right beside River Street Bar, and right on the main strip.

It’s very popular, for both eat in and take out. It’s not a fancy place to eat in, but its very cozy and family run and delicious. On the one time we didn’t have time to eat in here, we picked up take-out on the way home to re-heat once we were home. 🙂

3. The Stove Muskoka (formerly called Five Guys and a Stove)
Located more in the outskirts of town, Five Guys was a Huntsville classic for 30 years before it rebranded to be The Stove. The inside has a really nice dining environment with wood floors, fireplace and high ceilings. They always had creative dishes, everything I’d ever tried there has been really good.
I have yet to visit since the ownership change but it looks like the menu is more centred around fish and steak; there seems to be fewer vegan options than there were before (unfortunately for me, but might work for someone else.)
4. Le Bouchon Bistro & Wine
I almost had lunch at Le Bouchon Bistro & Wine during our last trip to Huntsville when my husband reminded me that we were short on time. I had a chance to peek at the inside and look at the menu and meet the server, and everything looked really good! The website describes itself as “casual and laid back”, but I felt that it had a slightly ‘nicer’ look and feel than just being casual. You could almost dress up a bit, and have a date night or girls night here. That being said, they are very welcoming to everyone and have kids menus for kids 10 and under.

Le Bouchon Bistro & Wine is actually a brand new restaurant in Huntsville, having just opened in 2026. It’s right on the main street of Huntsville. As someone who prefers plant based, they had some options that looked very appetizing. I will definitely make a point to come here next time I’m in town.
5. Main St. Local Kitchen
Main Street Local Kitchen is right on Main Street, as the name suggests! Great breakfast, but they do lunch and breakfast too. We’ve only ever had breakfast here, and their breakfast wraps were a nice way to fuel up before a day of hiking in Algonquin.

Since everyone is trying to get a protein filled breakfast before a day in the woods, I find that this place usually fills up by 8:30-9am on weekends. You can reserve online in advance, which I’d recommend if you’re here on a weekend. See their menu here.

6. On The Docks Pub
On The Dock’s Pub is right beside the river on the main street of Huntsville, and has indoor and outdoor seating, and serves pub food – burgers, pizzas, wraps, quesadillas and appetizers. I really enjoy their veggie wrap and their sweet potato fries are amazing.

It has a lively atmosphere, TV screens and music. It feels a bit sports barish. We’ve come here a number of times, I would recommend it if you crave pub food.
7. River Street Bar
River Street Bar is across the street from the river, but has a patio and windows that look out over the view. The food here is still comfort food, but a little bit more upscale than On The Dock’s. They have handlelds, and some entrees, like butter chicken and jambalaya.

Interesting fact: River Street bar used to be an AirBnb before it was turned into a restaurant- my husband and I stayed in it back in 2019 when it was still just an AirBnb! So, we can attest to the river views are great from this place; it looks out right over the bridge onto the river. If you can get a spot by the window, or the patio, you’d have THE most charming view.
I haven’t eaten in River Street Bar yet; but its right beside Seng’s Thai Cuisine where we always go. The menu seems very limited in vegetarian options outside of appetizers so we probably come for dinner, just snacks and drinks.
8. That Little Place By the Lights
That Little Place by the Lights is a cute, hole-in the wall Italian place right on the main street. I’m not sure why we haven’t eaten here yet, it looks very nice and has good reviews.
Its probably because for our nights out, we’re usually looking for something more upscale (hence why we always go to Tall Trees.) But if you fancy Italian, this place looks very nice and is often busy. It’s casual Italian, and they do 12″ pizzas and pastas for dinner, and paninis for lunch. It has a patio with view of the river in the summer months
9. Henrietta’s Bakery
Henrietta’s isn’t a restaurant perse, but it is a cafe with some indoor seating. Usually, we stop here to grab some treats or snacks before heading off for a hike or outing.

My parents are the ones who told me about Henrietta’s; they are mad for their signature treat, called the Muskoka Cloud (I’m not sure if they still make them anymore.)
10. Boston Pizza
Boston Pizza has a location right beside the Muskoka River, with a patio right on the river. I wouldn’t normally recommend a chain that everyone has usually already tried somewhere else, but the Boston Pizza in Huntsville has a spectacular view being right on the river.
I actually ate at this property before it was Boston Pizza; at the time it was called The Cottage WaterFront Grill, an independent restaurant that had to close due to challenges of running such a popular spot, and maintaining staff in a tourist town. As much as its sad to have it turn into a chain, it is probably easier for a franchise to keep it going. If you come here when the weather is nice, I recommend eating on the patio, the views are very nice and they have umbrellas for shade.
