About Me
Thank you for your interest and support of my blog. I’m Kristin; a mom of 2 daughters, a school teacher turned full-time blogger and world traveller. I’ve been to almost 40 countries and have lived in 7. We live full-time in the Toronto area, and often take trips around Ontario and Canada. I love Ontario, and it offers more than what many realize.

In addition to exploring Canada, we usually take off a few times a year to explore different places around the globe. While it’s exciting to visit as many places as possible – I’ve always been interested in spending more time in fewer places, and really soaking up everything about living there – the ambiance, the culture, language and way of life. I love revisiting places and there are tons of countries that I’ve visited multiple times, including:
- Sweden -visited 5 times, plus planning a 6th. I have family in northern Sweden and love exploring all over Sweden
- Mexico -visited 3 times, plus spent 6 months living there as an exchange student
- Ireland -two separate trips, both with kids; a total of 5 weeks between the two trips
- UK – have been there a handful of times; visiting England three times, and one visit each to Scotland and Northern Ireland
- France (three visits, one where I stayed for 3 months)
- Bahamas (been there countless times, on Disney Cruises mainly)
- US (more times than I can count – especially Florida, and California)
- Australia – spent a year living there, pre-kids
- South Korea – spent a year living here, and revisited as well, all pre-kids
The Story of Starting My Blog
After dreaming of having a travel blog for years, I finally decided to start Tiny Footsteps Travel in 2023. This seemed late to the game in the world of travel blogging, as there were already so many established, incredible blogs that had been running for over a decade by that point. I was able to reach high traffic thresholds and turn this blog into my full-time income. If you’re an aspiring travel blogger, or a blogger looking for tips, check out my travel blogging resources.
My Travel Backstory
I was born and grew up in Ontario, Canada with Swedish roots. I visited Sweden every few years in the summer to see relatives. As a student, I did three different exchange programs, to France, Germany and Mexico. I lived in Australia and South Korea for 1 year each as a young adult, and backpacked around Southeast Asia.

I didn’t want to give up travel after becoming a parent, so I’ve continued to travel worldwide with (and occasionally without) my two kids. When I worked as a teacher, I used my summers to take my older daughter on trips. I was a single parent in those days, and it was challenging – but worth it. Now as a married mom of 2, I’ve convinced my husband to bring both kids travelling at least twice a year. Most recently, we spent 2 months backpacking in Northern Europe (Ireland, Sweden, Scotland, the Netherlands and Denmark)
My main focus is travelling with kids, but many of my articles would be suitable for people of all age groups and stages of life. My parenting philosophy isn’t that things need to be strictly ‘kid-friendly’ or oriented in order to be enjoyable for the family. I believe that you can do a lot of things together as a family, and kids are often happy when they’re engaged in a group activity, even if it doesn’t stand out as being ‘for kids’ (like a museum, a castle, or a beautiful hike)

Goals and values of Tiny Footsteps Travel
- I’m brutally honest- all destinations look wonderful in photos, but if you need to keep things in mind, like a year-round packed parking lot, or lots of bugs – I tell you. I want you to feel informed and like you got the ‘insider scoop’ after reading my articles.
- I pay for all my trips myself, and have never done any sponsored trips or experiences. If I ever do, I will be honest about receiving something for free- transparency to my readers is the largest value of this blog
- My blog is completely human-written (I don’t use AI) and based on personal experiences, as well as extensive research, which I try to bring together in one place, which hopefully saves my readers lots of time
- Sustainability is important to me, and I keep that in mind when offering suggestions. I make sure I’m including options and ideas that are eco-friendly, and highlighting small businesses that have that value, so that we can minimize our carbon footprint and keep this world beautiful for generations to come
