Ontario
Ontario
Ontario is my home province, where I’ve grown up and lived for 30+ years. Its known for having all four seasons:
- Very humid, hot summers (sometimes even equivalent to the Caribbean!)
- Chilly winters, often with snow
- Colourful autumns
- Rainy springs
Ontario is one of the most exciting, but also expensive, places to live in Canada. It’s become the most expensive place to live, but for a reason – so many people relocate to Ontario.
If you’re new to Ontario – welcome! If possible, I recommend going beyond Toronto and Niagara Falls, and exploring more of this pristine province. Ontario is beautiful and underrated, with so much natural wonder. If you live in Ontario, I hope you’ll find some local gems that you may not have known about yet!

Cottage Country
Ontario’s “cottage country” is about a 2-3 hour drive from Toronto. It’s characterized by many lakes, rocky shorelines, hilly cliffs, and snowy winters.
The Niagara Escarpment
The Niagara Escarpment is a rocky ledge that runs from the Niagara Falls area all the way up to a town called Tobermory, Ontario (5 hours driving distance),
The Niagara Escarpment isn’t something you see in a day. Rather, there are a lot of places to visit along it, from the south side to the north; mostly scenic hikes and waterfalls.
Simcoe County
Simcoe County is my home, and where I grew up. It’s often considered the ‘gateway’ to cottage country.
It’s a scenic area, with some parts being in “cottage country” and others being along the Niagara Escarpment. You can visit some cute small towns, larger cities (much smaller than Toronto.)
Right now Simcoe County is one of the most popular places to live in Ontario, and there’s a huge housing boom!
