The Union Station area is the heart of the downtown core of Toronto. It’s walking distance to all the main attractions, and is one of the safest, most convenient areas to stay in downtown Toronto.
Staying in this area of Toronto is the most convenient all around, because not only can you walk to most things, but you can easily hop on a train or subway at Union Station to take you easily around the city; or even to further away places like Niagara Falls.

So, the reason I recommend to most visitros to Toronto to stay near Union Station is:

- It’s the hub for getting to further away attractions, such as the Distillery District, Kensington Market, or the Royal Ontario Museum

3. The Union Hotel
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.3 on Google)
Walking distance to Union Station: 11 minutes

The Union Hotel is an old Toronto hotel, having opened in 1933. Part of what I like about it is its not a chain – its independently owned boutique hotel, which is becoming increasingly rare in Toronto and in Canada. The Union was called ‘the Strathcona’ for the longest time, but underwent a huge revamp in the last year and changed its name to the Union Hotel.
Strathcona has just about everything you need, and is located on a quieter side street in the area. Its still right in the business district of Toronto, and within walking distance of several attractions, and of course, Union Station.
