There are LOTS of places to stay near the Cliffs. The area surrounding the cliffs is practically all B&Bs, so it’s impossible to name them all. There are definitely more bed and breakfasts and tourist accomodations than I think people who live there. What’s there is though, fills up fast, so its a good idea to book early to get the kind of accommodation you want.
My first trip to Cliffs of Moher, I just passed through. When I came back, I knew better and we spent 3 nights there on our Ireland itinerary.

Moher Lodge is the closest hotel to the Cliffs of Moher. It’s the perfect place to stay if you’re hoping to hike or walk to the cliffs, which you can do in about 30 minutes. The views from the windows of this hotel are breathtaking, and you have access to your own kitchen.

2. Blue Haven Lodge

Distance from Cliffs of Moher: 11 km (6.8 miles)
Doolin Village Lodges where we stayed! They have a small complex of houses that are quite large with lots of space. Perfect for families or groups.
We rented a 3-bedroom house, and it was great to spread out a bit. We were a short walk from Doolin, and short drive to Cliffs of Moher. We could walk over to Russell’s (the restaurant beside the complex) and get ice cream or take-out.
11. Casa Tara
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Distance from Cliffs of Moher: 9.3 km (5.7 miles)
We came really close to booking Casa Tara. Its a holiday home just a 10 minute drive from the Cliffs of Moher. It’s perfect for families as there’s a playground right outside. There’s two bedrooms, a kitchen, flat-screen TV, and incredible views of the surrounding land.
We almost stayed here, and I can’t remember why we switched places – it was probably due to date change. They look like a great spot.

12. Doolin Glamping

Glamping is a popular pastime in Ireland. The tents at Doolin Glamping are luxury-style, and have everything you need – blankets, lamps, a fireplace, etc.
There are also several amenities on site to ensure a comfortable, fun and relaxing stay. Doolin is one of Ireland’s cutest villages and worth exploring!

Pro Tip: You might have noticed that many of the above accommodations come with a kitchen, but where can you get groceries near the Cliffs of Moher?
If you want a grocery store with lots of, then you can get them from an Aldi (large chain British supermarket) which is just 20 minutes from Cliffs of Moher. The address is Circular Rd, Ennistimon, Ennistymon, Co. Clare, V95 A337, Ireland.
For snacks or quick meals, check out Aran Views Filling Station (10 minutes from Cliffs of Moher) which sells fresh bread, sweets, and toiletries. It’s open from 7am – 8:30 pm every day.
What town is closest to Cliffs of Moher?
The two closest towns near Cliffs of Moher are Liscannor (6 km or 3.7 miles away) and Doolin (7km or 4.3 miles away.)
You don’t need to stay in one of these towns in order to explore the cliffs, but staying near the Cliffs of Moher has a few benefits:
- Being able to see the Cliffs of Moher at sunrise, or sunset, when there is almost nobody else around
- Being able to to park and see the cliffs for free
- Exploring the picturesque villages of Doolin and/or Liscannor
If you’re not keen on staying overnight near the Cliffs of Moher, then there are other options too. Cliffs of Moher can be seen on a day trip from both Galway and Limerick, which are both around an hour away. Even Cork is only 2.5 hours away.
It’s also very common for tourists to visit the Cliffs of Moher from Dublin, which is 3.5 away and there are many day trips that bring you here from Dublin.
If you do choose to stay near the Cliffs of Moher area, there are a few other things I recommend doing while you’re here.
Here are the best things to do NEAR the Cliffs of Moher:
- Admire the colourful village of Doolin, specifically – Fisher Street
- Take the Doolin Ferry to the Aran Islands. Inis Oirr is only a 15-minute ferry ride – read my guide to Inis Oirr here.
- Do a tour of the Doolin Cave, 200 feet below the ground
For all the things there are to see and do in the area, I think staying near the Cliffs of Moher is a great idea.
Last time I went to Ireland, I chose to stay near Galway, which put me within driving distance of the Cliffs of Moher.
However, I’ve realized that staying even closer makes it much easier to do all these other unique things that are missed by many tourists to Ireland.
How Long Should You Stay?
I recommend staying in the Cliffs of Moher area for at least 2 nights, and even adding a 3rd night if you have time.
At least one full day will be needed near the village of Doolin; to stroll through the town, take photos of the colourful buildings, do the cave tour, and see other hidden gems in the surroundings.
The Cliffs of Moher themselves can be seen in just a few hours, but staying nearby gives you the most flexibility on when you visit and to go at your own pace while you’re there.
You also may have the special, once in a life opportunity to see them at sunrise or sunset which is the dream of many.
Staying near the Cliffs of Moher gives you time to really focus on these other gems, that are usually missed by most tourists.
