Travelling the World with Kids

Travelling with kids is as rewarding as it is challenging. The experience you have depends largely on the type of trip, the length of time, your children’s age and temperament, family dynamics, and many other factors.

In Rome with my oldest child (before my second was born!) in 2018

I was a single parent for the first 6 years of my older child’s life, and I did quite a bit of travelling solo around the world with her.

I later married and had a second child. Having an age gap of almost 9 years between my kids, I have been taking kids on trips for over a decade.

I’ve been on more flights with kids than I can count, and there’s no end to the number of tantrums I’ve calmed.

Here are the countries I’ve visited with kids: Canada, USA, Cuba, Costa Rica, Bahamas, Italy, Iceland, Ireland, the UK, Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden

Destinations with Kids

Here are some specific destinations that I have visited with babies, toddlers and kids. You can use this as a guide to help you plan your next family vacation.

Canada

Canada is such a large, vast country with a lot of diversity in terrain, climate and culture. There are big cities, rocky mountains, old-growth forests, and prairies that go on for miles.

United States

Similar to Canada, the United States is also a geographically huge country with a lot of diversity. While the big cities are exciting, I love visiting places that offer the chance to get outside. There’s a lot of beauty in the US that doesn’t always get the credit it deserves.

Scotland
